Manchester United and Arsenal are set to face UEFA hearing following Alexis Sanchez's transfer after reports claimed that the star missed drug tests.
The Chile international, signed for the Red Devils on Monday evening with Henrikh Mkhitaryan heading to Arsenal in exchange. However, on the day Sanchez was at Old Trafford to finalise his transfer, UEFA officials appeared at Arsenal’s London Colney training ground for a routine drug test and Sanchez was one of the players chosen to give blood. Officials from both United and the Gunners will now be forced to appear before FA to explain why Sanchez was not available.
Anti-doping rules
The rules state that clubs have to provide detailed training plans at the start of each week so players are available for drug tests at all times. This information includes when players will be training, on days off and also their home or hotel address. Technically Sanchez was still a Gunners player, despite it being United’s fault that he wasn’t in London and it remains to be seen which club takes responsibility. Manchester City were fined £35,000 last season for breaching anti-doping rules regarding player information.
Sanchez could make his Manchester United debut on Friday after Jose Mourinho confirmed the 29-year-old is in his squad to face Yeovil in their FA Cup fourth-round tie
