Thika United head coach Nicholas Muyoti is elated by the first leg of Kenya Premier League promotion win over Ushuru FC on December 21 at Thika  Sub County Stadium.
Thika overpowered the NSL side 2-1 with Onwudi Chibueze and Musa Saad strikes winning the show for Thika. Muoti believes that his charges will be up to task when they play again in the second leg that will be staged at Narok Stadium on December 24. Hassan Mohamed struck the only goal for the Taxmen.

- Given that we trained for only a day before this match, I am happy that we have won at home and possibly we will finish the job when we face them again at Narok. It was very difficult getting the team back since most of them had gone upcountry for the festive season, Muyoti said after the match.
Thika is fighting to remain in the top league after surviving a grueling season that saw Western Stima and Muhoroni Youth drop. Ushuru on the other hand failed to snatch an automatic qualification with Vihiga United and Wazito FC being the winners.
