LOCATION: Arusha, Tanzania

REPORTING TO: MANAGING DIRECTOR

He/ she will be responsible for overall supervision of Hotel/ Lodges Management.

REQUIREMENTS

Certificate/Diploma in Hotel Management
Minimum 2 years of experience in Hospitality management/1 year in similar role
Matured enough
Strong Communication skills
Team Player
Well-developed leadership skills

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

A Lodge Manager/property manager should be in a position to carry out the several duties on behalf of the company, according to the company’s set goals.

The manager should be in charge of all the day to day running of the lodge activities according to the schedule of the day.
The manager should conduct daily morning briefings with the head of department to discuss matters arising e.g. site inspections, sorting departmental issues, maintenance issues, etc., they should be short to allow other duties of the day to proceed as normal.
The manager should always be aware and be a link of any matters arising, and any incoming information from the head office e.g. guest cancellations, late arrivals, additional guest etc., so as to enable operation to run smoothly
The manager should spend time addressing client issues, and lend a personal touch, this will include following up on clients requirements and ensuring they are handled properly by the relevant person(s).To avoid unsatisfactory service
The manager should sort out all staff issues without being biased, e.g. leave cycles, issuing warnings, conducting trainings etc. Hence building a positive work environment and promoting team work amongst the staff.
The manager should have a good stock sheet control of all the items or stock either in store or in use, for all the departments, which should be recorded daily after issued, signed by the head of the departments. This facilitates easier ordering of items on time and making the monthly stock taking much easier.
The manager should come up with a good leave cycle for all the staff,
The manager should always directly involve the higher level management on issues they cannot handle.
The manager should always be available for site inspections, ensuring all the show rooms are prepared and well done at all times.
The manager should always be in a position to handle all visits from governmental agencies and give a report to the relevant department at the head office
The manager should help employees develop skills and confidence at work by identifying talent and motivating staff through constant performance reviews.
The manager should be in a position to control the lodge’s revenue and budget. By optimizing revenue based on demand, oversee the distribution strategy and manage daily operations, to make sure that the lodge sales increase, to manage budget by ensure the useful of every issuing department.
The manager should promote interdepartmental communications to ensure the standard service are well maintained.
The manager should ensure a high sense of cleanliness is maintained all through the lodges
The manager should ensure that the setup and cleanness of all the furniture in the lodge is maintained.
The manager should ensure that all the routine work are done on time, e.g. fumigation, floor polish, stock taking and daily, weekly and monthly reports are submitted to the relevant authority.
The manager should ensure proper waste disposal practices.
The manager should always ensure all means of communication are open at all times, so that he/she can be reachable.
The manager should oversee and ensure that all the means of the power in the lodge are working e.g. generator in good order with fuel, solar well charged and ready for clients use
The manager should crosscheck all the goods received with the deliveries list and ensure they are of good quality and of the lodge’s standards
