Barcelona thump Manchester United to book semis berth

Barcelona booked a semi-finals slot after thumping Manchester United 3-0 to proceed on a 4-0 aggregate courtesy of goals from Philippe Coutinho and a brace from Lionel Messi.
Manchester United had a scare in the opening 12 minutes as Fred was judged to have brought down Ivan Rakitic inside the penalty area but it looked soft as the Brazilian got infront of his man. The referee consulted VAR and overruled the decision.
Ashley Young who had a nightmare first leg as he was slaughtered by the United faithful for his poor performance was at it again as he lost possession to Lionel Messi who got past Fred and Phil Jones to deliver a low effort in the 16th minute for his first goal in the Champions League quarter finals since 2013 again Paris Saint Germain.
The Argentine magician's thirst for a goal was not about to be quenched as he grabbed his brace four minutes later when Fred Scott McTominay did well to rob Philippe Coutinho but the ball broke away for Messi who switched the ball to his left but a tame effort somehow escaped the grasp of David de Gea and trickle into the net.
The tie was well and truly over one minute after after the hour mark when Jordi Alba laid off Messi's pinged pass from his own half and what ensured was Philippe Coutinho produced a curler from outside the 18 yard area for the third.
Barcelona have now got to semi-finals after being knocked out by AS Roma last campaign while Manchester United are left to concentrate on the English Premier League top four race.
