Manchester United told to sign five players
Manchester United legend Gary Neville has told his former side to bring in five players during the summer transfer window to become Premier League title contenders.
The arrival of caretaker boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has seen United revitalized, going unbeaten in the Premier League while knocking Paris Saint Germain out the Champions League. However, Neville has not been carried away by the recent performance and wants his former side to sign three new defenders, a midfielder and a striker.
"Manchester United need two center-backs. I genuinely believe that," he told beIN Sport.
"When you talk about United winning the Premier League title or trying to get to a Champions League final, you need top centre backs. They need two new centre backs and a right back. That’s a minimum I think for the summer. They’ve looked at doing that in the past and they need to do it this year. The manager needs a new back four, there’s no doubt.
"They need someone with authority. You watch Virgil van Dijk or Thiago Silva, they’re world-class centre backs and United need someone like that."
Due to Alexis Sanchez's poor form, Neville believes United should look for a winger too.
"I still think they need strengthening in other areas. I would say three defenders, one midfielder and one forward, because of the form of Alexis Sanchse
